An Investment Opportunity with Legs

Saturday, January 21st, 2017

A friend who is good with money suggested I look into cannabis real estate in California as a potential investment opportunity. I’ve made a bundle off of a political website in the last year and a half and wanted somewhere to park some money. I didn’t even consider cannabis, but I definitely should have at least thought about it. California recently legalized marijuana and the potential for growth their is enormous. It’s huge, and everyone with some money should be jumping on this bandwagon as quickly as possible. It’s best to get in early while they’re still setting up the legal structure.

So I looked into the company I found and what they appear to do is act as a landlord. They’ve bought up properties suitable for growing operations and then they find great tenants who actually know what they’re doing and get them into the properties. (more…)

Comfortable Getaway Living for My Wife

Thursday, January 5th, 2017

My wife and I live in Boston where I work as at a high level in one of the law firms in the city. After several consultations with her doctor, I decided to look into Revere apartments for rent to help her with a health issue that has plagued her for most of her life. My wife suffers from extreme depression and anxiety, and city living has been making it worse over the last several years. It’s gotten so bad as of late that she’s undergone several hospitalizations, each one longer than the preceding one. Her doctor recommended looking into a second home or apartment in an area that is more relaxing and quiet.

I found a great complex that is a minute or two from a public beach and boasts a plethora of amenities that should be of comfort to my wife when she stays there. It’s still a heavily trafficked area, but at night it gets fairly quiet and think walks on the beach should help alleviate her condition to some extent. The doctor thinks so too. Moving entirely out of the area isn’t an option due to my demanding job, so we’re going to try this and see how it shakes out.

My wife really does enjoy the comfort of the building and especially it’s quiet atmosphere. While many people live there, the actual apartments seem quiet. No one is up causing noise and the people are friendly. We explained the situation to the office staff and they’re behind us one hundred percent and also think my wife will enjoy her stays at the apartment. My hope is that we will be able to reintegrate her into the house, but if not at least she’s not that far away and I can always spend time with her in my off hours.

When You Need It They Are There

Thursday, January 5th, 2017

I run a very low powered radio station out of my basement. Sounds cool, right? Well, it is until you need broadcast equipment maintenance. My dream was always to work in radio, which is sort of an anachronism in this day and age of the internet and digital communications. There are people who make a lot of money in radio, but there are very few. It really is sort of an antique broadcast form when you think about it. I expect that it will largely disappear in the next twenty years or so. There will still be people talking into a microphone, but it’s all going to be digital and very overproduced.

I still do it the old fashioned way, with a transmitter and antenna and microphone. (more…)

My Children Don’t Know Just How Smart I Am

Thursday, January 5th, 2017

My kids have been at me for many months about the things that they want for Christmas. I tried to tell them both that they should be mailing a letter to Santa with all their requests, but they thought that was pretty funny because they say they know that he doesn’t exist. So, they pester me quite a bit. I try to act as if I’m not paying attention when they talk about the things they want. They hope that I will buy gaming accessories and a lot of things for their bedrooms such a chairs for their friends and such.

When it comes to Christmas presents, I hear a lot of ‘Mom, did you hear me? Mom?” I figure if my boys really knew that they have my ear at all times, the gift requests would increase even further. So, it’s best to act innocent, and then surprise them on Christmas day. When it comes to the truly important things like schoolwork, music lessons and how they are doing over all, I immediately turn my full attention to what they are saying. You would think they would have noticed a pattern, but they haven’t yet. That is a good thing. Even when I am busy, I know that I need to pay attention to what my kids are talking about.

The boys are getting old enough that I can’t really hide gifts in the house very easily anymore. As soon I am away from the house for a short time, they start digging and searching around the house because they hope to find out where I hide gifts at. I overheard them talking about it. But I outsmarted them and have all gifts shipped to their grandparent’s house instead. When it comes time wrap everything, I will head over there to do it, and then put everything under the tree on Christmas Eve.
